SPEECH OF GENERAL SECRETARY OF UNIMA
PRAGUE 2.6.2002

* As I said in the opening ceremony, we are living in a period in which the intolerance shows us his most terrible face every day. This is why I insist in that an International Puppet Festival as the one we are closing today, is a cry of hope, an example for living in friendship. During 9 days, we have live in common people from different nationalities, cultures, credos and razes in a common space: our love for the Puppet Art. We have known each other a bit more. We have met old friends and have found new friends. Tomorrow, each of us will go back to our houses more rich thanks to this experience. According to the UNIMA spirit, I invite all of you: the ones we have been here and those that for any reason have not been here, to try to go deeper in what is joining us: The Art of Puppetry, leaving at side whatever make us been far the one to the others. For some of you it is not the first time you take part in the Festival, so I understand that the Festival and Prague have captivated you with its puppeteer atmosphere. That is why, on the name of this great family formed by thousands of people from 55 countries for all over the world, I want to thank the team presided by Todor Ristic and all those that make possible this Festival, for confirm Check Republic and this beautiful city of Prague as the World Capital of Puppets and I encourage them to continue with their work to make possible that next year we will meet again
